Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages reported an excellent return rate of 74 percent in its "Refillable Glass Bottle Pilot Program.,"
The pilot program in El Paso, Texas, in which customers return used glass soda bottles to be sanitized, cleaned, and refilled. was introduced in November of last year.,
The program's managers stated that it has the potential to expand across the Coca-Cola bottler's entire territory, which includes Texas, Oklahoma, and parts of New Mexico and Arkansas.
It caters to two markets: customers who consume drinks at home and on-premise food service clients such as restaurants. Customers buy a Coke from a participating location and then return the bottle to the store or restaurant. The store returns it to Coca-Cola.
