It’s been over a decade now since the release of “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion,” but fans of the original series will be glad to know there’s a sequel film titled “Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection” that is scheduled to hit theaters on Feb. 9, 2019.
As seen in the first trailer for “Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection,” fans are going to see some familiar faces with C.C., Suzaku Kururugi, and Nunnally Lamperouge set to appear in the sequel film. Yukana Nogami, Takahiro Sakurai, and Kaori Nazuka will return to voice their characters.
Three new characters – Shario (voiced by Ayumu Murase), Shesutaaru (Nobunaga Shimazaki), and Bituru (Wataru Takagi) – are introduced as well in the “Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection” trailer.
The film’s "MoviTicket" edition advance tickets went on sale on Oct. 6, and it includes a mini story booklet by original series scriptwriter Ichiro Okouchi. The novel will focus on Lelouch before the events in "Zero Requiem."
Meanwhile, fans of the original series should know that “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection” is not a direct sequel to “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion.” Instead, it is supposed to take place in the alternate timeline introduced in the recent recap films. That means Lelouch is very much alive in the upcoming movie.
“Lelouch will come back to the series, and its creator stressed the lead would be alive,” Megan Peters said in her report for ComicBook.com.
“This third installment will follow after Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2. However, it will use the anime’s recent reimagining of the second season; Over the last year or so, Code Geass has released a slew of recap films which detail its story, and the final movie made a few tweaks to season two which will pave the way for this new project,” she added.
