The previous months may have been a little rocky for the developers of “Crysis Remastered,” but it appears to be back on track. The game is now slated for release in September promised with major visual boosts on consoles and PC.
‘Crysis Remastered’: What to expect?
Video game developer Crytek announced “Crysis Remastered” will finally be released on Sept. 18 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It can be recalled that the game was originally planned to launch last summer on these platforms. But after the backlash on the quality of an earlier trailer, Crytek decided to delay it for a few months except on Nintendo Switch.
“Crysis Remastered” proceeded to launch on the Switch last July 23, as planned. That was likely because this version of the game is much less demanding considering the hardware capacities of the portable console.
With a new release date locked in for other platforms, Crytek reminds fans that “Crysis Remastered” will play with ray tracing support on the PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One X, and PC. The latter can also handle a graphics resolution of up to 8K but, of course, that will depend on every gamer’s rig setup.
The visuals shown in the latest trailer look promising, so it should be a good way to revisit the game and story that started the popular first-person shooter series. “Crysis Remastered” covers the events from the first game, which was set in 2020 as well. Players will assume the role of a special ops soldier named Nomad.
The game is fittingly set on an island so gamers might want to spend some time appreciating the much-improved graphics. Considering the modern gaming tech used in “Crysis Remastered” and the fact that it is set on an island, it is also worth noting that an expansive sandbox world was one of the highlights of the first game.
“Crysis Remastered” revolves around the plot that Nomad is tasked to complete a rescue mission, but things get awry quickly after finding out they are facing an alien invasion.
‘Crysis Remastered’ on PC is exclusively available on Epic Games Store
“Crysis Remastered” can now be purchased on the respective online stores of PlayStation and Xbox. As for the PC version, gamers can only get it on Epic Games Store after an apparent exclusivity deal between Epic Games and the developers.

The response to this exclusivity deal has not been very positive on Twitter. Disgruntled gamers believe Valve’s commission rate may have affected the decision to lock “Crysis Remastered” on Epic Games Store. But many claimed that Steam offers better service and features over its rival, which explains why some are not excited about it being exclusive on Epic Games Store.
