It appears that DJI has another imminent product announcement to make as a new drone was recently spotted in documents filed to the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The unannounced drone is identified in the filing as DJI Air 2S, suggesting that the company is continuing the removal of the “Mavic” branding.
DJI Air 2S appears in new FCC filing hinting at an imminent launch
Various sources obtained pieces of evidence of the DJI Air 2S FCC filing this week confirming the removal of the “Mavic” name. This will not be the first time, though, as the company launched the DJI Mavi Mini’s successor simply as DJI Mini 2.
On DJI’s official website, the company still lists Mavic as one of its distinct consumer series, along with Phantom, FPV, Osmo, and RoboMaster. But it is going to be interesting if this will change once the DJI Air 2S is announced.
I mean, the label on the AIR 2S has the same shape and similar layout to the label on my Mavic Air 2. Time to see which other DJI products have the same label layout/shape. again, purely speculating here. pic.twitter.com/D0QaYU37of

It is not quite clear yet why DJI is dropping the Mavic branding since it is one of the most recognizable product names attached to the company. One possibility, though, is DJI wanting to create a more apparent distinction between its “Mini” and “Air” drones. That is considering the DJI Air 2S would be billed as the successor to the DJI Mavic Air 2.
It is also not surprising that the DJI Air 2S FCC filing has appeared around this time. This could be signaling the drone’s imminent launch since the Mavic Air 2 was announced in April 2020. It is then not far-fetch for fans to speculate on the new drone’s announcement possibly happening next month.
DJI Air 2S specs: What to expect
FCC filings are good indicators that unannounced tech products are likely getting launched soon. But these types of documents do not usually say much about technical specs, design, and other features.
However, the DJI Air 2S is slightly an exemption. The FCC filing’s appearance online came with a few details about the drone. The label has revealed that the upcoming product will have the same battery capacity as Mavic Air 2, with a 3500mAh capacity and 11.55V voltage.
What will happen if Mavic Air 2 has IMX686? just a wild guess.

Meanwhile, there are also suggestions that the OcuSync 3.0 might be launched with the DJI Air 2S. Camera improvement is also one of the most anticipated announcements for the upcoming drone DJI leaker OsitaLV, floating the possibility of the drone shipping with the Sony IMX686 sensor.
