Fans of the HBO western drama series “Deadwood” will be glad to know that a revival is in the works.
None other than actor Ian McShane, who played Al Swearengen in the series, confirmed to TVLine the news. According to him show creator David Milch delivered a script to the cable network, before adding with a laugh, “If they don’t deliver [a finished product], blame them.”
On the other hand, “Deadwood” may not be shown on the small screen. McShane said that the script is written for a “two-hour movie,” and could possibly mean that Milch is simply asking the original distributor to help out with the film adaptation. McShane also added, pertaining to the cast, “We’d all love to do it… It would be nice to see all of the old gang again.”
If “Deadwood” will indeed be developed for the big screen, there is a possibility, considering the fact that another original series, the reel life comedy “Entourage,” continued via a movie adaptation in 2015, New York Daily News said.
Although HBO has yet to respond to McShane’s comments, it would be interesting to note that should filming of the “Deadwood” movie push through, it would have to work around McShane and Milch’s schedules. McShane’s upcoming series, Neil Gaiman’s “American Gods,” is set to debut later this month. Milch, on the other hand, is rumored to have been working on the third installment on another HBO original series, “True Detective” along with the latter’s creator and writer, Nic Pizzolatto.
