It’s time once again for “Destiny 2” to get its weekly reset. The reset occurred on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 6 p.m. GMT, so players no longer have time to complete their tasks from the previous week. This is the second reset to take place since Bungie released the “Forsaken” expansion went live earlier this month.
It’s out with the old, in with the new in “Destiny 2” as Bungie introduces a new Crucible Player vs. Player mode called Breakthrough. As explained by the developers, the objective of the game is to capture a neutral zone at the beginning of each round. Once that is done, the team that has secured the area will deploy the Breaker, and the opposing team will get the chance to take over the zone.
Whoever controls the Breaker will have to use it to hack the enemy team's vault. A win is awarded to the team that succeeds in hacking their opponent’s vault within a set time limit. Otherwise, they lose. However, “Destiny 2” players will get the chance to enter Sudden Death if his/her team is in the process of hacking the other team’s vault once the time runs out. Once it enters Sudden Death, the round will go on until the Vault is either hacked or the opposing team removes all the progress made by the player’s team. The match will end once a team wins a total of three rounds.
Breakthrough is designed for two teams of four players. To join, players will have to head to the weekly featured playlist. “Destiny 2” players who own the Forsaken expansion can start up private Breakthrough matches at the moment, but the new mode will join the competitive playlist starting on Oct. 2.
Meanwhile, the exotic gear merchant Xur leaves Nessus after the reset, although he is set to return this Friday with a new inventory. As usual, Call to Arms Crucible Challenges, Destination Flashpoints, Raid Challenges, Raid Checkpoints, Nightfall Strike, Weekly Clan Engrams, Weekly Clan XP Caps, Eververse Bright Dust and Prismatic Matrix Selections are all given a clean slate as well.
