The theme for “Diablo III” Season 18 has officially been announced, and it’s being called the Season of the Triune or the Season of Buffs. During this cycle, players across the board will have the ability to spawn a circle of power whenever their ability hits an opponent.
The circle will provide buffs randomly in “Diablo III” Season 18. They can either provide +100 percent damage, reduce resource cost by 50 percent, or decrease the cooldowns of abilities. Only one buff can be active.
It appears that Blizzard may have listened to some of the suggestions by the community after all. However, while “Diablo III” Season 18 is being billed as a cycle that would accommodate all players, concerns for classes relying on mobility has been raised by some.
Diablo III Season 18 and potential problems of mobile classes
Barbarians and Demon Hunters, for instance, heavily rely on constant movement to benefit from their respective buffs and abilities. But the bonuses in “Diablo III” Season 18 described the buff mechanics as “players standing in the circle.”
Stopping to acquire buff from a circle would be a negative experience for the aforementioned classes, which is especially true for the Barbarian class. Of course, since the PTR (Public Test Realm) just went live on July 25, the way the buffs work in “Diablo III” Season 18 could be changed. They did promise to accommodate the Barbarian class after all.
“We wanted to try something different this [Diablo III Season 18] with a buff that was more beneficial to players regardless of where they might be in their Season Journey. Triune's Will can come into play as early as level 1 and continue to make an impact on your game experience from the beginning to the end of the Season, and we're looking forward to seeing how players leverage this ever-changing boost throughout their adventures,” the announcement said.
Diablo III Season 18 to rework some legendary items
Aside from the buffs, “Diablo III” Season 18 will also be giving some love to legendaries that have fallen on the wayside due to their utility no longer viable. From Flavor of Time to Echoing Fury, Blizzard appears to have read the Barbarian community’s extensive suggestion to bring balance to the class.
As for when the next cycle will officially begin, the gaming studio has yet to announce anything yet. However, “Diablo III” Season 18 could arrive sometime in the fall, perhaps on Nov. 1 or 2 on account that BlizzCon 2019 will be taking place during this time.
