Disney Plus revealed early this week that it would offer big discounts to those who will sign up for its subscription service. The offer is for a limited time only, and subscribers can enjoy a low fee of just $1.99 for one month.
As per Reuters, the latest Disney Plus promotion started on Nov. 8 and will be available until Nov. 14. Eligible returning subscribers in the U.S. and a few other countries can grab this chance to watch programs offered by the over-the-top streaming service company.
It was said that this move to offer discounted subscription fees is part of Disney Plus’ efforts to boost the number of its subscribers further. Moreover, the decision comes as the growth of paid users for its streaming service has slowed down.
Typically, the company charges $7.99 per month for its streaming service in the U.S., but as the subscriber growth in Disney Plus recently hit a downturn, the low subscription fee offer is a strategic means to get registrations coming in again.
Based on the report, the streaming provider gained more subscribers at the height of the COVID-19 as people could not go out to watch in cinemas. With the restrictions, more households turned to streaming services to fulfill their movie and TV enjoyment needs.
Variety reported that the discounted subscription rate of $1.99 is just one of Disney Co.’s offers in its Disney Plus unit. The company is actually giving many other offerings for its weeklong series of promotions, including content premieres and events.
It should be noted that once a returning Disney Plus subscriber finishes a month of subscription with a low fee, the service will revert back to its original price of $7.99/month. To register, the firm is launching a new site hub where eligible parties can sign up. They will also be able to view promos and events on the site.
Finally, Disney Plus has 116 million subscribers around the world as of July 3. The Disney Plus Day that is taking place on Nov. 12 will mark the streaming service’s second anniversary, and the discounted fee is also tied to this celebration.
