‘Doctor Strange’ reveals its new theatrical poster featuring Benedict Cumberbatch dressed in full costume as the titular Sorcerer Supreme. The poster was released ahead of the scheduled Comic-Con in San Diego.
According to Comicbookmovie.com, a new theatrical poster of director Scott Derrickson’s upcoming installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been released through Twitter by user @CooperMCUEx. It featured Cumberbatch in all of Stephen Strange a.k.a. Doctor Strange’s glory. He looked the part with the character’s signature beard, red cape, and Eye of Agamotto amulet.
Although an official and higher-resolution version of the poster has yet to be released by Marvel Studios, it is expected to come out soon enough. According to Screen Rant, cast and crew members will be joining the upcoming 2016 Comic Con to be held on July 21-24 in San Diego, California. Cumberbatch’s presence in the panel is yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, another poster created by artist Ryan Meinerding specifically for the upcoming Comic Con has also been released. According to Super Hero Hype, this will be made available at the Marvel booth during the event. It showed the titular character front and center as he casts a magic spell.
Derrickson’s film will follow a talented yet arrogant neurosurgeon who gets a new lease on life after a car accident leaves him permanently injured. He goes on a journey and meets the Ancient One, who teaches him magic and mysticism. He becomes an intermediary to the real world and alternate dimensions while protecting humankind against evil.
Joining Cumberbatch in the new film are Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Karl Mordo, Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One, Mads Mikkelsen as Kaecilius, and Benedict Wong as Wong.
‘Doctor Strange’ is an upcoming action-adventure and fantasy film scheduled to be released on November 4, 2016 in the United States. It is directed by Scott Derrickson and written for the big screen by C. Robert Cargill and Jon Spaihts. Kevin Feige is producing while Victoria Alonso, Stephen Broussard, Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Charles Newirth, and Stan Lee are serving as executive producers.
