Fans can read through the manga from the start because the first season did not only skipped on several comedic scenes. This seems to be a necessity for anyone hoping there would be “Domestic Girlfriend” season 2. The anime’s debut installment missed several chapters that were important in establishing the emotional connection between the three main characters and the backstories of several supporting characters.
'Domestic Girlfriend' season 2 plot, spoilers: What happens next
The pacing of the anime compared to how the story was fleshed out in the manga by series creator Kei Sasuga is undoubtedly incomparable. But the first 12 episodes of the animated series were still enough to establish the main conflicts going on between the characters, especially Natsuo, Hina, and Rui. However, for fans who want to genuinely decide who should end up with whom, again, reading the manga series is the best way to go.
As mentioned, season 1 showed enough story that does not make “Domestic Girlfriend” season 2 impossible to be released and connect smoothly with the first installment’s finale. Monsters & Critics reports that the 13th episode of the series could be derived from the manga’s chapter 73 where readers found Natsuo living a few years into the future. He is a successful writer and already married with a child.
The flash-forward, as expected, kept the mystery going for avid manga readers. The face of Natsuo’s wife and child were not shown. And the same could be anticipated if this is where “Domestic Girlfriend” season 2 would begin.

Some of the most talked-about anime series that debuted this year have already been confirmed to have a second season in 2020. Unfortunately, “Domestic Girlfriend” season 2 is not part of that list.
There are various speculations why it has not been announced yet. Some fans think “Domestic Girlfriend” season 2 was never planned based on how “rushed” the first 12 episodes were. There are also suggestions that season 1 was only released to boost the manga’s viewership.
