Donald Trump allegedly got rid of the US Secret Service Director Randolph Alles. It was said that the firing was part of the government’s plans of purging the office. The White House also revealed who will replace Alles as the new chief.
“The firing was part of "a near-systematic purge happening at the nation's second-largest national security agency", an official told CNN.
According to Australia’s ABC News, President Donald Trump ordered Randolph’s firing and it was his acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney who relayed the message to the Secret Service Director. For his replacement, White House’s press secretary, Sarah Sanders, stated that the POTUS chose James Murray, the Secret Service official to lead the agency.
Murray will be the new head of the US Secret Service and he will start working as the new chief in May. Ms. Sanders also said that Alles will vacate his post shortly.
Commenting on Alles’ replacement, Sanders said, “The United States Secret Service director Randolph ‘Tex’ Alles has done a great job at the agency over the last two years, and the President is thankful for his over 40 years of service to the country.”
She added, “Mr. Alles will be leaving shortly and President Donald Trump has selected James M. Murray, a career member of the USSS, to take over as director beginning in May.”
Meanwhile, Randolph Alles released a statement saying that he was not fired by Donald Trump. He said that his departure was only misinterpreted and this is not really the case.
“No doubt you have seen media reports regarding my ‘firing,” Politico quoted Alles as saying. “I assure you that this is not the case and in fact, I was told weeks ago by the Administration about that transitions.”
