Donald Trump just announced via social media that he and his wife, Melania Trump, have tested positive for coronavirus. The First Couple was infected just after Hope Hicks, the POTUS’ senior adviser, confirmed she got COVID-19.
Trump’s announcement
Prior to her diagnosis, Hicks flew with Donald Trump on Air Force One on Sept. 30. This was also the reason why the president and the First Lady had themselves tested for the virus.
Barely two hours before the POTUS revealed their results, he wrote on Facebook: “Hope Hicks, who has been working so hard without even taking a small break, has just tested positive for COVID 19. Terrible!”
He added that he and Melania are also waiting for their test results. While waiting, he said that they will begin their quarantine process.
Apparently, the results are in, and the president’s next update revealed a piece of unfortunate news. They are positive for coronavirus.
“Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately,” he tweeted. “We will get through this TOGETHER!”
Melania Trump also shared the same update via her own social media account. She said that they are quarantining at home, so it can be said that they are asymptomatic. The FLOTUS added that she already canceled all her upcoming engagements and told the public to keep safe as well.
The current health condition of Donald and Melania Trump
Now, after announcing their positive results for COVID-19, NPR reported that White House physician Sean Conley is checking and monitoring the conditions of the First Couple.
An official at the official residence and office of the president also told NPR's Tamara Keith that Donald Trump is doing well, and he remained in good spirits. On the other hand, Melania Trump personally shared that she is fine and feeling good as well.
In the meantime, it was said that the POTUS’ staff are making plans on how to run things while the head of the state is in quarantine in the next 14 days. The vice president will take over, but Donald Trump will remain engaged.
"He's fine now and in good spirits,” the official told Keith. “He'll be OK, the doctor's optimistic. He'll get treatment. We're in a pretty good place to treat this."
