“Doom Patrol” season 2 has been renewed, and this comes even if the first installment is still airing on DC Universe. The series debuted in February and after just a few episodes, the next season was already confirmed.
Then again, Warner Bros. still needs to make an official announcement on “Doom Patrol” season 2 renewal. The production company is expected to confirm the next installment next month or in July as the first season is ending this month.
“Doom Patrol” season 2 will continue as the spin-off of the “Titans” series. For people who are still new to this comedy, its synopsis will give the exact idea of what it is about. As per DC Comics, its official plot summary reads: “The Doom Patrol's members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence and to protect Earth from what they find.”
In other words, “Doom Patrol” is another superhero TV series but with a twist. It is a comedy plus the protagonists do not really want to be the Earth’s saviors, but their complexes brought them together, and they found their purpose.
“Doom Patrol” season 2 showrunner Jeremy Carver added, "It is a show about a group of reluctant heroes who are content living in isolation until they’re called upon to rescue a world that has long shunned them.”
“Doom Patrol” season 2 will still feature its main lead artists including Brendan Fraser as the Robotman, April Bowlby as Elasti-Woman, Diane Guerrero as Crazy Jane, Joivan Wade as the Cyborg and Matt Bomer as the Negative Man. The team of unexpected superheroes will still be led by Dr. Niles Caulder or the Chief (Timothy Dalton), and protagonist Eric Morden (Alan Tudyk) is still likely to be their leading nemesis.
As for the release date, “Doom Patrol” season 2 may arrive in February 2020 as per OtakuKart. In any case, filming is set to begin in the second half of this year, so the predicted premiere date is about right.
