DoorDash (NASDAQ: DASH) reported strong second-quarter 2025 earnings, with revenue rising 36% year over year to $4.45 billion, fueled by robust order growth across its restaurant, grocery, and international operations. The company's performance was supported by the integration of Deliveroo and continued expansion of its DashPass subscription program.
During the quarter ended June 30, Marketplace Gross Order Value (GOV) increased 36% to $33.1 billion, while total orders climbed 27% to 970 million. Adjusted EBITDA grew 40% to $914 million, surpassing company expectations. However, GAAP net income declined 30% from the same period last year to $200 million.
DoorDash said its U.S. restaurant business maintained strong momentum, driven by higher DashPass membership and increased customer engagement. The grocery and retail segments also posted solid growth while improving operating efficiency. Internationally, the company reported encouraging results, with Deliveroo contributing higher monthly active users and order volumes.
The company continued investing in technology to strengthen its long-term growth strategy. DoorDash introduced new AI-powered tools to improve personalization, streamline merchant onboarding, and optimize delivery routing. It also launched "Ask," an AI assistant that helps customers discover restaurants and build grocery orders more efficiently. The company expects its global technology platform to be fully deployed during the first half of 2027.
DoorDash also expanded its autonomous delivery initiatives. Its land-based delivery robot, Dot, is expected to handle a high single-digit percentage of deliveries in its largest test market by the end of the year. Additionally, the company recently secured FAA Part 135 certification, enabling broader testing of drone deliveries through its DoorDash Air program.
Looking ahead, DoorDash forecast third-quarter Marketplace GOV between $33.0 billion and $34.0 billion, with adjusted EBITDA projected at $950 million to $1.1 billion. Management expects profit margins to improve sequentially in the third quarter before easing in the fourth quarter as investments continue in AI technology, global platform expansion, and autonomous delivery solutions, reinforcing the company's long-term growth outlook.
