“Dragon Ball Super: Broly” teaser trailers have already shown that Frieza, Vegeta, and even Goku are no match for Broly one-on-one. Fans are treated to audio snippets of Vegeta, Goku, and even Frieza marveling at the strength that Broly displays as a montage of scenes where they get beaten by Broly is played.

Fans are already speculating on Broly's strength in his current incarnation. The trailer already shows Broly in his normal form taking on Goku in Super Saiyan Blue. Guesses have also stretched to as wild as looking into the yellow-greenish color of Broly's hair, which may indicate that his Ki may be even beyond Super Saiyan God power levels.

Series creator Akira Toriyama has confirmed that the “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” movie aims to reintroduce who Broly is and what he is capable of. In his statement, Toriyama also mentioned that he has forgotten a lot of the material regarding Broly, which was released almost two decades ago. The movie will essentially be a canon reboot for Broly. This is an important aspect of the “Dragon Ball” universe for Broly, who only appeared in spin-off movies and manga, but never in the official manga run or the anime.

Toriyama's statement would also mean that most speculations on Broly's power levels cannot be fully based on Broly's appearances in “Dragon Ball Z: Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan” and “Dragon Ball Z: Bio-Broly.” This may give Broly even more headroom for his power levels. If Broly is truly as strong as people are expecting him to be, it is possible that the movie may also canonize a fan fave: the Goku-Vegeta fusion of Gogeta.

The movie will get its Japan release on Dec. 14.

The North American release of “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” will come a month later, in January 2019. Funimation will be handling the screening rights for the North American territories.
