NASHUA, N.H., March 29, 2018 -- Dresner Advisory Services today published the 2018 Cloud Computing and Business Intelligence Market Study, part of the Wisdom of Crowds® series of research. This is the company’s 7th annual report examining end user deployment trends and attitudes toward cloud computing and business intelligence (BI), defined as the technologies, tools, and solutions that employ one or more cloud deployment models.
The 2018 study shows a sharp positive increase in user sentiment toward cloud and BI, mostly felt in the sales/marketing and executive management functions and in small organizations. Current use and future plans for cloud BI has increased sharply, most strongly in small organizations and in the financial services industry.
“Across our several years of study, there is a clear and consistent increase in current use of public cloud BI, driven in part by an abundance of cloud-based solutions,” said Howard Dresner, founder and chief research officer at Dresner Advisory Services. “Deployment of cloud BI applications continues to grow steadily, with organizations citing substantial benefits realized over traditional on-premises implementations.”
Industry sentiment toward cloud BI generally grew over time, with private cloud investment outpacing public cloud in 2018. Ninety percent of industry respondents indicate that private cloud BI is available today, with 71 percent currently offering public cloud and 75 percent that offer hybrid services.
Wisdom of Crowds® research is based on data collected on usage and deployment trends, products, and vendors. Business intelligence users in all roles and throughout all industries contributed to provide a complete view of realities, plans, and perceptions of the market.
