An overnight drone attack damaged homes and a clinic in Lipetsk, Russia, injuring one man and forcing patients to use another facility, regional Governor Igor Artamonov said Oct. 22.
Artamonov said air defenses shot down about 20 drones across Lipetsk Oblast during the night of Oct. 21-22. He reported no deaths.
The attack damaged houses and apartment buildings in several parts of the city, breaking windows and damaging exterior walls, Artamonov said. A man born in 2001 was hospitalized with a serious injury.
An unexploded drone warhead was found on the roof of a clinic on Merkulova Street, Artamonov said. The clinic was closed and empty when it was damaged. He said patients were being directed to another clinic while specialists worked at the site.
Lipetsk is also home to Novolipetsk Steel, which NLMK Group describes as its key production site. NLMK’s website lists the plant at 18% of Russian steel production, without specifying when that share was measured.
