Disney recently confirmed that they’re adding another popular actor to its cast members who will be lending their voices to the cartoon series reboot “Ducktales,” which is expected to premiere this year.
According to Deadline, Miranda will be voicing Gizmoduck, a brilliant young intern working for Gyro Gearloose, the personal mad scientist of Scrooge McDuck, which will be voiced by “Jessica Jones” Season 1 villain David Tennant. Gyro Gearloose’s true identity is Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera.
Io9 explains more about Miranda’s character in the DisneyXD animated series:
In the original, his transformation into the heroic Gizmoduck was a little more accidental, having first appeared as an accountant for Scrooge, but he went on to appear as a regular character and even had a few appearances in Darkwing Duck. And that’s despite the fact the shows took place in separate universes!
Executive producer Matt Youngberg said about Miranda’s casting, "Lin came to mind instantly for the role of Gizmoduck. His rapid-fire earnestness paired with his wide-eyed yet determined optimism made him the perfect person to yell 'Blathering blatherskite!'"
Co-producer and story editor Francisco Angones chimed in and added, "Growing up as a Cuban-American comic enthusiast, I was always hungry for a Latino hero to call my own. In developing the new series, Matt and I leapt at the opportunity to adapt DuckTales' marquee hero into a young scientist character with Latin-inspired roots."
The “Ducktales” reboot will follow the adventures of Scrooge McDuck, his grandnephews Huey, Dewey and Louie, their uncle Donald Duck, and their trusty team, Webby Vanderquack, Launchpad McQuack and Mrs. Beakley.
