It’s the 20th anniversary of “Duke Nukem 3D” and the original creators of the game released an updated version with a few extra content thrown in. This is great since the last title in the franchise to be released was not exactly well received and the bad taste it left behind needed to be washed out.
The “Duke Nukem” franchise was known primarily for three things: guns, women, and very cheesy 90s one-liners. These were great back when the Backstreet Boys were still relevant, but perhaps less so for 2016. The exception is the “20th Anniversary Edition World Tour” of “Duke Nukem 3D,” which is set to be released on October 11.
Gearbox Software is the studio that made the first version that came out in 1996, and they are bringing back the legendary title with a bunch of new content, Engadget reports. There are going to be 8 new levels added to the game, along with new dialogue and even some tweaks to the graphics. By placing the work in the hands of the game’s original creators, it’s practically guaranteed that it’s going to bring back extreme nostalgia about the time when a “Duke Nukem” game did not suck.
Unfortunately for players who have gotten used to the mouse and keyboard controls on the PC, the game will only be playable using a controller, PC World reports. Fans of the original might not mind so much since this is how it was played anyway, but it is bound to tick off some interested gamers.
All in all, the game is still the “Duke Nukem 3D” of old, with the same weapons and the same enemies to shoot with those weapons. Gutter humor and cheesy dialogue are present as well, so fans of those types of entertainment are going to have a blast.
