After years of hiatus, the “PGA Tour” professional golf video game simulation is under EA Sports has been revived with an all-new game in development. However, long-time fans should not expect to find Tiger Woods in the cover or gameplay after being the star of the franchise for 16 years.

What to expect from EA Sports’ upcoming ‘PGA Tour’ iteration

PGA Tour and EA announced on Monday that they are continuing their partnership with a “next-gen” game currently being developed by the Florida-based studio Tiburon. The same developer is responsible for other popular EA Sports franchises, such as “Madden NFL” and “NBA Live.”

EA Sports have yet to reveal most of the details about the next “PGA Tour” game. But some of the features confirmed in the announcement include a career mode where players get to virtually experience what it is like to go through a series of professional golf events.

To make the experience even more realistic, the developers will continue with the tradition of featuring real-life golf courses such as the famous Pebble Beach in California. The next “PGA Tour” game from EA Sports will also feature key events from the tournament, including The Players Championship and the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

The game publisher promised to release more information, possibly about the featured courses and players, in the coming weeks. The “PGA Tour” video game revival’s announcement did not include a release window, so it is still unclear if EA would push for a 2021 launch. But an additional announcement on that matter will happen “in the coming months.”

Tiger Woods is unlikely featured in the next EA Sports ‘PGA Tour’ game, here’s why

EA Sports also confirmed that its next “PGA Tour” game will feature “some of the biggest names in professional golf,” but it has yet to provide a specific name. But fans Woods, who was the face of the series from 1999 to 2013, is unlikely to join the roster of players for the upcoming title.

EA’s next “PGA Tour” game was confirmed just a few weeks after 2K acquired HB Studios. The developer worked on 2K’s “The Golf Club” games, including the first entry to the “PGA Tour 2K” franchise that launched last August. 2K has also signed a long-term deal with Woods earlier this month granting the publisher exclusive rights to use his name and likeness for its golf sim franchise.
