Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi are said to be splitting up because the former does not want to quit her hosting job in the “Ellen Show.” The latter wants her wife to leave her daytime program but it appeared that she does not have plans to do so and this created a big issue.

According to In Touch Weekly, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi are “at the breaking point” and could no longer pretend to make their marriage work. And as their marital problems go deeper, divorce is now imminent.

“They’re not going to make it. Their roller-coaster marriage is about to derail,” the source told In Touch.

It was added that Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi could have called it quits earlier but since the California law states that the latter could get big portions of the TV host’s money if they broke up, they held off as Ellen wants to protect her $360 million fortune as opposed to her wife’s $20 million worth.

“Ellen’s friends know she would do whatever it takes to stay married to Portia, and she has.,” the insider added. “They’ve gone to individual and couples counseling.”

However, Gossip Cop wrote that the Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi divorce news were fabricated stories. It pointed out that previously although the former model really said that she wanted her wife to leave “The Ellen Show,” the host has yet to make a decision since her contract with the show does not expire until 2020.

Also, GC stressed that the couple is not likely to break up just because in case Ellen decided to continue hosting her program thus, the reports are false.

The gossip police also checked with Ellen DeGeneres’ friends and the publication was informed that she and Portia De Rossi are not heading for divorce. Plus, this is not the first time that In Touch reported that the couple is splitting and every time, the tabloid has been proven wrong, and this recent rumor is no different from its past allegations.
