Through Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi’s more than 10 years of marriage, they have had their several tabloid moments where their relationship is rumored in shambles. Over time, the reasons that anonymous sources have been using also change. At one point, they allegedly agreed on matters of adoption while issues with jealousy have also been in the mix.
Ellen jealous of Portia’s new priority?
In early July, another rumor surfaced claiming that Ellen and Portia were not on good terms. A source told Life & Style said that the comedian has been feeling bad at how the actress is allegedly spending most of her time on her new business. Last year, Portia opened her own art-tech company, General Public.
The rise of Portia’s business reportedly made Ellen jealous and resulted in her becoming “incredibly demanding.” The same source added that the couple has since been living “separate lives” and have practically stopped talking to each other.
It is not the couple’s nature to address every divorce of separation rumors getting published. But their fans can get clues that such claims are not accurate. For one, reports have it that Portia and Ellen have put up another property on sale this week. Their beachfront mansion in Carpinteria, California was reportedly put on the market and was sold for $24 million only several days later. Such big decisions would most likely require them to be on good speaking terms.
Are they arguing about adopting a child?
Gossip Cop also recalled a tabloid publishing a story a year ago that Ellen and Portia were planning to get a divorce over differences in adopting a child. It was claimed at the time that Portia refused to have a child while also getting disappointed at how much time Ellen spends on her show.
The celebrity reports fact-checking outlet also recalled the story was quickly debunked when Ellen posted a sweet video on Instagram to celebrate her and Portia’s 10th wedding anniversary. The couple got married in 2008 shortly after the right to same-sex marriage was upheld by the Supreme Court of California.
Fans may also recall that Ellen already addressed the topic of having children with Portia. “I think I would. But that's not enough to have kids. I love kids. But that's such a big commitment … And I just don't know if I can — it's too risky,” the talk show host said at a TODAY show interview.
