Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are undeniably one of the “couple goals” of Hollywood. But with the limelight comes the never-ending rumors of divorce. Celebrities raise their eyebrows at these kinds of reports, but the “Arrested Development” star sees something good in them.
Divorce rumors show change in people’s perspective, says de Rossi
DeGeneres and de Rossi were some of the well-known personalities who tied the knot shortly after same-sex marriage was legalized by the Supreme Court of California in 2008. But, with the way things are in Hollywood, their marriage has also been the subject of many divorce rumors. Like many other popular couples in America, de Rossi and DeGeneres rarely address such claims.
However, de Rossi admitted previously that she thinks there is a silver lining in these divorce rumors. The actress who now owns an art company said that the persistent publishing of gossips about their marriage was one thing that convinced them people’s perspective has changed. “I know it sounds ridiculous, but when that started happening I thought, ‘Oh, now we’re finally accepted.’ We get the same s*** as every celebrity couple,” DeGeneres further explained to Us Weekly.
Months after de Rossi’s interview with Us Weekly, DeGeneres also revealed to the New York Times that she has stopped reading reports about them for years now. The “Relatable” Netflix star confirmed having read stories claiming they are getting a divorce or having a child every other week.
DeGeneres, de Rossi together through career changes
Last year, de Rossi confirmed she decided to retire from her acting career before launching her company, General Public. As for DeGeneres, there are speculations she might be leaving her self-named talk show on NBC since her contract is slated to expire in the summer of 2020. It turns out, DeGeneres’s wife is in favor of seeing her change her course of career.
DeGeneres added in the same Times interview that de Rossi is not fond of hearing the comedian’s brother saying she cannot quit from the talk show. De Rossi then explained that she only feels that way because she believes DeGeneres has several other endeavors she can pursue as an actress and a stand-up comedian. The “Finding Dory” star did her first stand-up special in 15 years titled “Relatable” now streaming on Netflix.
