‘Empire’ season 3’s episode 11, titled “Play On,” is set to follow Cookie as she continues to come to terms with her feelings for Lucious. Meanwhile, the promo hints that Angelo will be proposing to Cookie.
The synopsis for “Play On” posted on TV Guide reads, “Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) tries to move forward with Angelo (guest star Taye Diggs), while struggling with guilt over her run-in with Lucious (Terrence Howard).
Elsewhere, Leah (guest star Leslie Uggams) seeks out Tariq's (Morocco Omari) help in taking down Anika (Grace Byers); and Jamal (Jussie Smollett) and Tory (guest star Rumer Willis) team up in the studio.”
The upcoming episode will follow Cookie as she tries to deal with the feelings she continues to have for Lucious despite trying to move on with her life with her current beau Angelo.
In the previous episode, titled “Sound and Fury,” Cookie went on a rampage in Lucious’ office after the latter appointed Anika (Grace Byers) as head of A&R at Empire Entertainment. According to the recap on TV Fanatic, Cookie went on the war path by smashing everything she could find. However, the episode ended with Cookie and Lucious making out heavily before she pulled away declaring that she was finally over him.
The promo suggests otherwise, however. Cookie says, “Lucious' got a power over me that I may never be able to break.” In another scene, Angelo is seen presenting Cookie a small jewelry box. It seems that he will be asking for her hand in marriage.
It will be interesting to see if Cookie will confess to Angelo about her moment with Lucious and if this will cause a rift in their relationship, considering that she just can’t break ties with her family being the protective Lyon matriarch that she is.
‘Empire’ season 3’s episode 11, titled “Play On,” is scheduled to air on Fox on March 29, 2017. It will be followed by episode 12, titled "Strange Bedfellows," scheduled to be released on April 5.
