Ethereum Latest News: ETH Rises to $280; Gets Added to AP Style Guidebook Along with Other Major Cryptocurrencies

Ethereum (ETH) is experiencing an upward trend as it's up by 6.23 percent in a 24-hour period and is currently trading at $284 as of this writing. But it’s not just Ethereum that is seeing this increase as the rest of the top 10 leading cryptocurrencies are all green at the moment, according to numbers shown by CoinMarketCap.

There have been predictions last week that Ethereum can break through the $300 resistance levels if Bitcoin reaches $8,000. And since Bitcoin has done that and more, it appears that the assumption is slowly transitioning to reality.

However, if Bitcoin doesn’t slow down – and there’s no indication that its momentum will wane – the $300 prediction on Ethereum might be bump higher. Jehan Chu, the co-founder and managing partner at Kinetic Capital, are among those who are convinced that the second-largest cryptocurrency in the world is gearing up for something big once again, The Daily HODL reported.

“From a utility standpoint, we’re seeing Ethereum as the lead. The rate of adoption and the rate of development that the Ethereum team, providing a decentralized global computer, is just astounding,” Chu said.

Meanwhile, the cryptocurrency market as a whole is poised to further penetrate the mainstream media as the AP Stylebook announced on Twitter that it’s going to be adding several altcoins into its guide. Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, and Ethereum are among those that will be integrated into its fold.

Furthermore, it also provided some clarification on how to use these new words. When referring to the cryptocurrency as a system – like Ethereum, for instance – the first letter should be capitalized. But when using it as a form of payment, it should be lowercase.

Following this announcement, Cointelegraph copy editor Max Koopsen said that while Ethereum is the correct form to use when referring to it as a system, “ether” should be used when using it as payment. Ethereum creator Vitalik Buterin agreed with Koopsen and added that the plural for the word should also be ether. As an example: John bought a pizza online using ether.
