The sequel to the beloved real-time strategy game “Evil Genius” is confirmed to launch on consoles in the coming months. Xbox fans are also getting a piece of extra good news as the game is announced to launch to come to Xbox Game Pass at launch.
Rebellion Developments, who took over the making of the sequel from Elixir Studios, announced the “Evil Genius 2” console launch on Wednesday. The sequel will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S after initially launching on Windows PC last March.
A specific release date is still unknown. But Rebellion Developments confirmed, “Evil Genius 2” will be available on consoles in the fourth quarter of the year, which is only a few months away. In a blog post, the developer also announced that the game will be accessible through Xbox Game Pass, although it was not clear if will be accessible through the PC-only membership plan.
The first game was released in 2004, but the game had a loyal fanbase that cemented the success of the sequel earlier this year. Like the first title, “Evil Genius 2” lets players act as a villainous overlord that will wreak havoc on humanity.
“Evil Genius 2” heavily features base-building elements. The game tasks players to establish their evil lair and recruit minions to carry out their plans. Players will also have to build alliances with other powerful forces who share the same goals so they can defend their headquarters against the do-gooders from the Forces of Justice.
Obviously, the good guys are going to be the antagonists in the players’ “Evil Genius 2” exploits. Forces of Justice will always try to bring down their lair and players can count on them to always be punctual.
One of the main goals in “Evil Genius 2” is to build a Doomsday Device that players can use in dominating the world. Gaming fans should not let the game’s animation fool them, though, as the missions in “Evil Genius 2” can be quite dark, such as selling a royal family, kidnapping a governor, and literally baking Alaska.
