At least S$83,000 has been lost in Singapore since March 2026 as people searching for SIMBA Telecom mobile top-ups encountered imitation sites in sponsored Google results, police said Oct. 21.

The Singapore Police Force said at least 62 cases had been reported. The fake sites appeared near the top of sponsored results for searches related to SIMBA top-ups, the agency said.

Visitors were asked to provide mobile numbers and bank card details. The sites then sought digital token approval or one-time passwords, police said. Victims later discovered card transactions they had not authorized.

A prominent search ranking or sponsored label does not establish that a site belongs to the company it names, police warned. SIMBA’s support page lists topup.simba.sg as its recharge address. Police advised customers to check the address and reach the site through a bookmark they have already saved or by entering the address themselves.

Anyone who suspects a fraudulent transaction should contact their bank immediately and file a police report, police said.
