The premiere of “Fire Force” last week offered a nice glimpse into what the main purpose and main adversary of Special Fire Force Company 8 are. Unfortunately, they will face a daunting task of putting down another Infernal, who turns out to be someone close to them, in “Fire Force” episode 2.
To recap, the series is set in the year 198 of the Tokyo Solar Era and society’s main issue is the growing number of people becoming a victim of an unexplained spread of spontaneous human combustion. People are not just catching fire at random; they also turn out to be destructive flaming monsters. Those who experience this are called an Infernal, and in “Fire Force” episode 2, the Infernal happens to be Mikako’s father.
“Fire Force” episode 2 spoilers: What to expect
Fans will also witness the main protagonist, Shinra, bond with their Battalion Commander, Akitaru. Shinra joins Akitaru and Arthur at Ippudo Ramen where the two veteran firefighters decide to have an eating contest in “Fire Force” episode 2. The way Akitaru talks with Arthur makes Shinra realizes he has a cool character.
However, the laidback scenes will end once they get the first mission in “Fire Force” episode 2 that involves one of their friends. Mikako, a member of the Special Fire Force Company 8, goes home to find that her father becomes an Infernal. This will alert her team to respond.
Members of the Special Fire Force Company 8 are all pyrokinetics trained to deal with Infernals. However, there is no other way to end a case without having to put down the human soul of an Infernal. This means that Mikako will have to witness her father die in “Fire Force” episode 2.
“Fire Force” episode 2 spoilers: Mikako’s father is targeted
It will be later revealed that two unknown men appear to be targeting Mikako’s family and intended for the situation to take place. In the manga where “Fire Force” episode 2 is based, the unknown men are shown being excited that their plans are going as they intended. “Fire Force” episode 2 will be released on Friday, July 12. The series is streaming on Crunchyroll and Funimation.
