The end of “Food Wars” season 3 only scratched the surface of the Promotions Exams arc. Anime-only fans can expect there will be more bouts to unfold once “Food Wars” season 4 is out. For a brief teaser, here are the upcoming cooking duel matchups and themes in the 2nd Bout.
Coming into “Food Wars” season 4, the Rebels are at high morale after winning all three duels in the 1st Bout. But all that will change in the 2nd Bout. However, anime fans should not be worried because this Regiment de Cuisine went on to the 5th Bout before determining the winning group. So Soma’s team will have more chances to recover.
The first parts of “Food Wars” season 4 will likely begin with the 2nd Bout where the first cooking duel card is composed of Kuga from the Rebels and Tsukasa from the Central. The picked cooking theme is green tea.
Megishima will be back for his second duel as the Rebels’ representative for the second card against Rindo Kobayashi of the Central. They will be preparing a dish with chili peppers as the main ingredient. Lastly, Somei Saito of Central defeats Subaru Mimasaka of Rebels in the fight for the best tuna dish. If the flow of “Food Wars” season 4 will be similar to the previous seasons, all the 2nd Bout duels will likely be covered in two to three episodes.
To recap, the anime has been covering a Regiment de Cuisine between the Rebels and the Central. In the manga series, the Regiment de Cuisine is more of an informal dueling event but in this case, the stakes are high. Winning this in “Food Wars” season 4 will put the Rebels in the Totsuki Culinary Academy’s Elite Ten Council, avoid expulsion, and let previously expelled members during the Promotions Exam go back to the academy.
Unfortunately, the making of “Food Wars” season 4 has not been officially announced yet. But based on how season 3 ended, there must be more episodes coming up especially with Soma determined to defeat Tsukasa in a future duel.
There are speculations that “Food Wars” season 4 might be released in spring or in mid-2019. But J. C. Staff studio has yet to confirm the series is in production so it is best to take this with a pinch of salt.
