One of the possibilities considered for “Food Wars” season 4 is that it could be released sometime this year. Once the anime series is renewed, many are hoping to see more plots focused on the development of characters other than the main protagonist Soma.
This franchise written by Yuto Tsukuda has been one of the titles that gained worldwide popularity. However, it has been over six months since the third season of the anime series concluded and, unfortunately, fans have not heard yet from the producers about “Food Wars” season 4.
However, as far as speculations go, a fourth installment is highly anticipated. There are even reports that consider the chances of “Food Wars” season 4 being released in 2019 within the middle through the end of the year.
The first three installments of the anime series heavily focused on the journey of Soma and his training to become a great chef inspired by his father. Aside from Soma, the anime series also introduced well the character of Erina who is dubbed as the God’s Tongue for her superb palate. Reports are hoping that once “Food Wars” season 4 gets on the air, the series would also give a fair share of the limelight to other characters as well.
Meanwhile, one issue that fans deemed might contribute to the delay of “Food Wars” season 4 is the availability of source materials from the original manga series. On a good note, the development of the manga has been fairly consistent. The third season covered parts of the Promotion Exams arc but Soma’s journey of winning culinary duels does not end there. At the moment, there are three storylines left untouched by the anime series including the Hot Spring Investigation, Beach Exam, and BLUE arcs.
The third season finale was based on chapter 217 (“After the 1st Bout”) or the 46th installment out of the 92 chapters that compose the Promotion Exams arc. So like in the second and third season, “Food Wars” season 4 is most likely featuring a transition between two separate arcs.
