“Fortnite: Battle Royale” developer Epic Games does not run out of ways to excite the “Fortnite” fan base as players are currently engaged in theorizing what the cracks recently appearing in the game could mean. To some, it might have something to do with the upcoming season 5.
For some days now, players have been noticing cracks appearing in the sky and other parts of the “Fortnite: Battle Royale” environment. These do not interfere with the gameplay because these are obviously placed in the game intentionally. But for what reason? Fans can only guess.
An event being hyped up this much can mean that the cracks are linked to the next major thing happening to “Fortnite: Battle Royale,” and that could be the arrival of season 5. The sky rifts might be telling players something about the gameplay changes and challenges to be released in season 5. Unfortunately, other than the season 5 release date, nothing else has been confirmed about the upcoming event.
Epic Games confirmed through a Reddit post that “Fortnite: Battle Royale” season 5 will commence on Thursday, July 12, at 4 a.m. EDT. This also meant that the current season has been extended by two days, giving players more chances of completing their remaining challenges.
There are other speculations surrounding the sky rifts in “Fortnite: Battle Royale.” An elaborate theory was recently posted by Reddit user u/TheCourierWatches linking the cracks to possible time-traveling characters and other content.
“The Visitor came from a different time period, most likely the future. The Hop Rocks were samples of what his technology is capable of accomplishing,” u/TheCourierWatches explained. “The Visitor, dedicated to returning home, modifies the fake rocket into a functional time machine utilizing the Hop Rocks provided by Vindertech, and other samples of his time period's technology that fell on the island.”
“Fortnite: Battle Royale” is available on the PC, PS4, Xbox One, iOS, and Nintendo Switch.
