Jetpacks are finally available in Fornite Battle Royale after months of teasing. True to form, the new loot can be really fun to use, but it does come with several limitations. Players won’t likely find much use for them other than as convenient modes of transport as well, and only for short periods of time since it needs to recharge after every use.
Adding jetpacks to the game is yet another box that Epic can tick off and which fans of the game can seriously have fun with. Even if it’s not necessarily the best items to help competitors win against others, it can certainly make for some enjoyable streaming moments. In any case, the jetpacks apparently fall under the new gear category called “backpacks”, Kotaku reports.
These are not the same as “back blings,” which are simply cosmetic items. Rather, backpacks will take up space in the inventory slot, so it’s best to take that into consideration before getting it.
There are also several restrictions attributed to the use of the jetpack, including the fact that it won’t allow players to target others while in use. As such, anyone hoping to take out others by sniping them as they hover in the air will have to face disappointment.
It’s also worth pointing out that fall damage still applies when using the jetpack, Forbes reports. Since it can quickly run out of fuel and will require recharging before it can be used again, players will need to be careful and not just fly willy-nilly.
Even with these restrictions in place, however, it’s more than likely that some of the most talented players might find ways to make use of the tool. While targeting when using the jetpack can be difficult, players can still fire their weapons. As such, it might just be a matter of timing and angles.
