With the Dutch election done with, the focus is on the French Presidential election. The first round of the election would be held on 23rd April. After the right-wing party in Netherlands, Geert Wilders’ Party for Freedom (PVV) failed to impress in the March 15th election, many are hoping that the fate of Madame Le Pen’s National Front would be similar in the upcoming election. The odds of Le Pen Presidency declined after the Dutch election, where incumbent Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s VVD became the largest party beating PVV.
Currently, the market is pricing almost 60 percent chance of a Macron Presidency. Sky Bet, Bet Victor, Bet way, and more are pricing 60 percent of a Macron presidency, while more popular Betfair is pricing almost 64 percent chance. Compared to that most of the betting markets are pricing 26-29 percent chances of a Le Pen Presidency. The odds of a Fillon Presidency are around 15 percent.
While 2017 has so far proved to be not anything like 2016 that saw Brexit, Trump election, and Italian referendum, however, we would like to point out that the odds of La Pen presidency are still higher than that were for candidate Donald Trump.
