Fundamentals to watch out for this week

In terms of volatility risks, this week is filled with that, both in terms of data and events. The week is dominated by central banks’ decision.

What to watch for over the coming days:

  • Central Banks:

Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) will announce interest rate decision on Tuesday. Federal Reserve member Dudley and Brainerd are set to speak on Tuesday. Kaplan is set for a speech on Wednesday.  Bank of England (BoE) member Haldane is set to speak on Tuesday. RBA governor Phillip Lowe is set for a speech on Tuesday. Bank of Canada (BoC) will announcer interest rate decision on Wednesday. European Central Bank (ECB) will announce interest rate decision on Thursday. BoC governor Poloz is set for a speech on Thursday and member Lane is also set for a speech on Thursday. Bank of Japan (BoJ) will announce interest rate decision on Friday.

  • Economic data:

Services PMI reports on Monday. Eurozone fourth-quarter GDP report on Wednesday. U.S. ADP employment report on Wednesday and NFP report on Friday. Japan’s fourth-quarter GDP data will be released on Wednesday. China might release February trade balance report on Thursday and inflation reports on Friday. Canada will release employment report on Friday.

Along with the above fundamentals, unscheduled Brexit commentaries, happenings in the Middle East, Spain’s Catalonia, and Korean peninsula are likely to keep influencing the market.
