Fundamentals to watch out for this week

This week is relatively risk heavy with data and events. Focus is on NFP data from U.S. and ECB monetary policy.

What to watch for over the coming days

  • PMI readings from Europe 

Market will closely watch out for PMI reports from Europe to see, whether growth slows or recovers in response to further easing from European Central Bank.

  • PMI data from China 

Lots of focus will be over China’s PMI, where traders will look to see if a recovery is taking place or stimulus isn’t yielding much. China, this year, has launched big stimulus to revive economic growth.

  • U.S. economic data 

Major focus will be on U.S. economic dockets and this week, there are lots of data to focus on. Data will determine whether FED hikes in June or July, or not. Consumer spending, income, PCE inflation scheduled on Tuesday. ISM manufacturing PMI on Wednesday, Trade balance and NFP report on Friday.

  • OPEC meeting 

OPEC members are scheduled to gather for their June meeting in Vienna. Though no major announcement is expected, oil market will keep its focus on the happenings on Thursday.

  • ECB monetary policy 

European Central Bank (ECB) will announce monetary policy on Thursday. Though it is likely to maintain status quo, Draghi may go for an attempt to push down Euro and markets will be looking for hints for future actions.
