FxWirePro: French election odds preview

French election is likely to be the most important election of this year in Europe. Other two elections are the Dutch election that will be held on March 15th, and the German election that will be held on September 24th. In the German election, the right wing party is likely to get far lower numbers from the majority and in Netherlands, right-wing party led by Geert Wilders is set to get the most votes but not majority. The uncertainties are the highest with regard to the French election. In addition to that, France is the second largest country in the Eurozone and the rightwing party leader Marine le Pen has promised to hold a referendum on the French membership. So, her win in the election might actually mean the end of Euro.

It is widely reported that Madam Le Pen is set to win the first round but ultimately lose in the second. Below are the odds, priced by the market.

  • Market is pricing the chance of winning for Emmanuel Macron: 58 percent (BETFRED, Betfair), 56.5 percent ( William Hill)
  • Market is pricing the chance of winning for Marine le Pen: 35 percent (BETFRED), 29.4 percent (Betfair), 36.3 percent (William Hill)
  • Market is pricing the chance of winning for Francois Fillon: 17.9 percent (Betfair), 18.2 percent ( William Hill),

One thing, we would like to point out that the odds for Marine Le Pen is higher than that were for Donald Trump.
