Lots of economic data and events scheduled for today, and some with extreme volatility risks associated.

Data released so far:

  • Australia: Westpac consumer confidence up 1.9 percent in April.

Upcoming:

  • Japan: BoJ governor Haruhiko Kuroda to hold a press conference at 6:15 GMT to discuss monetary policies. Machine tools orders report due at 6:00 GMT.
     
  • France: February industrial output numbers due at 6.45 GMT. 0.5 percent decline expected.
     
  • Italy: Industrial output report for the month of February due at 8:00 GMT. Prior 1.7 percent m/m and -0.8 percent y/y, expected at -0.8 percent m/m, and -0.9 percent y/y.
     
  • United Kingdom: Manufacturing and industrial production reports due at 8:30 GMT, along with February trade balance and GDP numbers.
     
  • United States: MBA mortgage market report to be published at 11:00 GMT, followed by CPI inflation report at 12:30 GMT. EIA will release its weekly oil inventory report at 14:30 GMT. Fed’s Quarles set for a speech at 15:50 GMT. Monthly budget statement to be released at 18:00 GMT. FOMC will release minutes of the last meeting at 18:00 GMT.
     
  • Eurozone: ECB will announce the monetary policy decision at 11:45 GMT. The press conference would be held at 12:30 GMT by ECB President Mario Draghi.
     
  • European Union: European Council will hold Brexit meeting to decide on the path forward and to decide whether or not to grant UK’s request of another extension to the Brexit deadline and on what conditionality.
