Following unstaking on December 28, 2025, Hyperliquid carried out its planned token unlock on January 6, 2026, giving core team members and supporters from Hyperliquid Labs about 1.2 million HYPE tokens (worth around $30–$35 million at present pricing of $26–$27). For around 23.8% of the 1 billion fixed maximum supply given to the team (post a one-year cliff from the November 2024 TGE), this starts a 24-month linear vesting period with monthly distributions of approximately 1.2 million tokens predicted via 2028 under the no-VC, fully internal approach. Though past unlocks in late 2025 included bigger quantities (up to 9–10 million tokens), this predictable schedule adds little supply pressure amid strong platform fundamentals, including TVL exceeding $6–10 billion and dominant perpetuals trading volume; market observers are watching on-chain flows for possible sales versus holding since unlocks have previously caused price dips notwithstanding Hyperliquid's strong development and community-driven ecosystem.
