After a positive day of negotiations on Wednesday, lunch and a signing ceremony between President Trump and North Korean supreme leader Kim Jon-Un has been abruptly called off.
- White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders announced to reporters, who have been waiting for the lunch and the signing that the plans were canceled and President Trump would be holding a press conference at 2 pm local time.
- She further added that negotiations would be wrapping up in the next 30 minutes, she said, after which Trump will return to his hotel for a press conference.
- She didn’t answer reporters' questions on why the two events were canceled.
This was the second summit attended by the two leaders after they made initial progress last year when a sitting U.S. President met North Korean leader for the first time in history. Does this mean that the negotiations are not going as expected today after positive talks yesterday?
- To have the answer, we might have to wait for the press conference at 7:00 GMT.
