GAP Inc. announced the launch of its family essentials collection on Amazon Fashion store in the United States and Canada. The clothing retailer revealed the opening of its store on the Jeff Bezos-founded e-commerce platform on Thursday, Nov. 10.
Gap said that it has joined forces with Amazon Fashion to distribute and sell its branded products to thousands of customers. The company described the products that are part of its new partnership deal as “basic and modern essentials for the family.”
Shoppers will now be able to find Gap’s t-shirts, hoodies, sleepwear, denim pants, underwear, socks, and more. The company’s items are already available on Amazon even before the opening of its shop and it was explained that this is different because previously, its items are being sold on the site through third-party sellers. Now, the brand is directly selling through its official store.
According to CNN Business, this will be the first time that Gap is marketing its products on an online marketplace. Starting this week, Amazon US and Amazon Canada will be including the retailer’s products including items for kids and infants. There will be Baby Gap branded pieces such as cribs, strollers, nursery furniture, and bassinets.
Then again, none of the products is exclusive to Amazon which means these are also available in Gap’s brick and mortar outlets and website. Shoppers can buy the items for Prime delivery.
“Collaborating with Amazon Fashion provides us a new channel to deliver Gap’s modern American essentials to even more customers in the U.S. and Canada," Gap’s chief executive officer and president, Mark Breitbard, said in a press release. “We are excited to take this step with Amazon Fashion, to expand our product offering and to deepen our connection with consumers through the Gap brand store.”
Amazon Fashion’s president, Muge Erdirik Dogan also said, “At Amazon Fashion, we continuously expand our product offerings for our customers and we are excited to make shopping for Gap products even more convenient for customers with fast, free Prime delivery.”
