Fans of Rockstar Games' open-world franchise may feel like the wait for an official announcement about “GTA 6” is akin to purgatory. Not much is known about a potential sixth installment for the “Grand Theft Auto” franchise aside from speculation.
The only source which has claimed insider information about “GTA 6” is YouTube channel The Know. The YouTube channel claims that an insider from Rockstar Games has spilled information on “GTA 6” being in the works under the code name “Project Americas.” The potential “GTA 6” is rumored to revisit a classic “Grand Theft Auto” location with Vice City. Fans can also expect “GTA 6” to not be limited to one location, with a potential for players to fly from Vice City to somewhere in South America.
According to the supposed leak, “GTA 6” will also feature additional character customization options, including the potential for playing a female character. Fans of “GTA” can also expect “GTA 6” to not be limited to the original Vice City's '80s timeline, with the upcoming installment potentially being set in modern-day Vice City.
Should the information shared with The Know turn out to be correct, gamers can expect a bigger “GTA” when “GTA 6” comes rolling into town. Still, fans should manage their expectations considering that Rockstar may not be rolling out a “GTA 6” anytime soon given that they are currently focused on releasing “Red Dead Redemption 2.”
“GTA 6” has yet to be officially announced as being in production. Since The Know's leak from their “GTA 6” insider in March, no other source has corroborated the rumors on “GTA 6”. Fans who are expecting updates about a potential “GTA 6” release date will have to wait for Rockstar Games' official announcement that “GTA 6” is in production.
Fans of Rockstar can look forward to the studio's latest project, “Red Dead Redemption 2,” to be released in Q4 of this year.
