‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7 Updates, Spoilers: Warring Queens Cersei, Daenerys Get New Throne Rooms; Highgarden, Casterly Rock Involved in Biggest Battle

Emilia Clarke plays Daenerys in HBO's 'Game of Thrones'

‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 will feature new throne rooms for the series’ warring queens Cersei and Daenerys as revealed in new photographs from the filming set. Meanwhile, Highgarden and Casterly Rock are also reportedly preparing to take part in the series’ biggest battle.

According to Watchers on the Wall, Queen Cersei (Lena Headey) and Queen Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) will have new throne rooms in the season 7 of HBO’s highly-anticipated fantasy-drama series.

The photographs featured Mad Queen Cersei’s Iron Throne in the Red Keep at King’s Landing looking much different from the previous seasons. It featured the Lannister Lion in place of the original seven pointed star, an emblem for the Faith of the Seven, which she managed to destroy in the season 6 finale.

Dany’s presumed seat of power at Dragonstone was also revealed. It featured a throne room carved from rock formations and a single silver-embellished throne right in the middle. Dragonstone was the original seat of power of House Targaryen before Stannis Baratheon claimed it as his stronghold.

The two Queens will go head to head in the incoming season – with Cersei attempting to rule over the Seven Kingdoms and Dany arriving at Westeros to state her family’s claim.

Meanwhile, the incoming season is set to feature the biggest battle in the history of the show and will include the Tyrell stronghold Highgarden as well as the Lannister’s ancient seat of power Casterly Rock. According to Inverse, both locations never appeared in past seasons and will finally emerge in season 7.

It was revealed that the Lannisters will sack Highgarden as a way of solidifying the family's authority as well as allowing control of the critical crossroads the Tyrell stronghold presides over.

According to another report by the Independent, Sam’s (John Bradley) father Lord Randyll (James Faulkner) and younger brother Dickon (Tom Hopper) will also be present in an ambush scene wherein Dany’s dragon attacks a Lannister-led caravan train carrying sacked Highgarden goods. They could both be killed leaving Sam the new patriarch of House Tarly.

‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 is scheduled to premiere later than usual, sometime in mid-2017. It will be composed of seven episodes unlike previous seasons, which were composed of ten episodes each.

Filming began in Northern Ireland on August 2016. Other locations include Spain and Iceland. Filming is expected to end in February 2017.
