“Gears of War 5,” or officially “Gears 5,” might be released in fall just like its predecessor games. Meanwhile, fans can certainly expect to get a first look at its multiplayer gameplay in the coming month.
For now, Microsoft and Xbox have only confirmed that “Gears 5” will be released in 2019. Despite the lack of more specific details, it is a good indication that the game’s development is very likely on track and within the developers’ time frame. This then leads to the possibility that it would not miss the franchise’s usual main title release in fall.
An interesting fact about “Gears 5” predecessors, “Gears of War 3” was first intended to be released in spring of 2011. But Microsoft later decided to move it to a September release date to join the company’s holiday video game lineup that year.
The fall season launch was also applied to the sequel “Gears of War 4” that increases the chance of “Gears 5” becoming available within the last quarter of the year. However, it is still best to wait for Microsoft’s official announcement.
Meanwhile, another possible indication that the development of “Gears 5” remains on track is the readiness of the developer to showcase its multiplayer gameplay in June. This is an important one because the entire franchise has been popularly known for the variety of multiplayer game modes available in each main series installment.
Last month, Microsoft announced its partnership with the popular eSports broadcast Eleague in launching the “ELEAGUE Gears Summer Series: The Bonds and Betrayals of Brotherhood.” It is composed of six episodes featuring live tournaments and stories focused on renowned players in the “Gears” eSports community. It will premiere on Friday, June 14, at 11 p.m. ET. But its highlight is the unveiling of “Gears 5” Versus multiplayer.
