When it comes to modern smartphones, one of the biggest quips that consumers have except for the screen size, display quality, storage size, and OS, is its battery life. Gionee wants to make sure that users of their newest luxury phone offer won’t ever have anything to complain about on that score since the M2017 can stay functional for over a month without charging.
It would seem that Gionee couldn’t wait to announce the existence of the M2017 until 2017 began since the Chinese smartphone company decided to do it a few days before New Years. What’s most interesting about this new luxury unit is the fact that it has two, count it, two 3,500mAh battery packs, Digital Trends reports.
The smartphone features a 5.7-inch screen, with 4K display and is dual-edge. As for the internal aspects, the M2017 packs a massive 6GB of RAM but only pairs it with a 1.95GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 processing chip. The former offering is a huge step up, but the processor does leave something to be desired once placed alongside the RAM, Ubergizmo notes. It also has a max storage capacity of 256GB that can’t be expanded.
In any case, consumers might be most interested in the star features of the smartphone, which is the battery life that, when combined, runs up to 7,000mAh. According to Gionee, this allows the phone to remain active for up to 38 days without charge, but that’s only if it gets minimal to no use.
When used, it can run video streaming for up to 26 hours and could allow users to talk on the phone for up to 31 hours. The unit also comes with Quick Charge 3.0, which does allow the M2017 to recharge faster than most other phones. Unfortunately, its massive battery capacity also ensures that it won’t become fully charged as fast as, say, the iPhone 7.
The unit’s base price is $1,007. For that, consumers can get the 128GB unit.
