MELBOURNE, Australia, Nov. 06, 2017 -- As a result of a competitive tender, Gippsland Health Alliance has selected Allscripts (NASDAQ:MDRX) to deliver an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) solution to the Gippsland Health Alliance (GHA). The Gippsland Health Alliance is a consortium of publicly funded health services in the Gippsland region of Victoria, Australia’s second most populated state. The agreement was signed in the fourth quarter of 2017.
Latrobe Regional Hospital (LRH) is Gippsland's specialist referral and trauma center caring for a population of more than 260,000 people. Latrobe Regional Hospital will be the first site in the Alliance to implement the Allscripts Sunrise™ EMR clinical suite which will replace paper-based medical records with a digital version. The implementation of the Allscripts Sunrise clinical system will include the hospital’s emergency department and surgical wards.
Peter Craighead, Chief Executive of Latrobe Regional Hospital said the hospital’s partnership with Allscripts is an investment in safer patient care.
“The EMR will ensure records are up-to-date and accessible by every member of a patient’s treatment team,” Mr. Craighead said. “The benefit to the patient is a more efficient and accurate response to their clinical needs. Clinicians will be better able to access the right information in a timely manner.”
Sunrise is a globally-proven platform and is especially appropriate for large, multi-specialty institutions such as Latrobe Regional Hospital. The integrated platform connects all clinical and financial aspects of a hospital or health system for inpatient, emergency and outpatient care. Sunrise supports all the core care venues with a single integrated platform and single patient record – across inpatient, ambulatory, emergency and other high-acuity venues.
Managing Director Asia Pacific at Allscripts, David Chambers, described the inaugural adoption of Sunrise in the Victorian market as a very positive step forward for the company.
“The Gippsland Health Alliance contract-win cements our position as an EMR-of-choice in Australia and we look forward to working with GHA to deliver this world-class platform across the region,” stated Mr. Chambers.
The implementation of the Allscripts Sunrise clinical suite at Latrobe Regional Hospital will begin this year and will be live in the hospital’s Emergency Department early next year.
