After the crazy shopping Cyber Monday has incited, a four year-old movement is encouraging shoppers to get something not for their personal selves, but for charity.
Henry Timms, 92nd Street Y's Executive Director and founder of the Giving Tuesday, said the idea behind it was about people to refocus on giving to any charity or purpose they wanted to. Timms, who had also indulged in the shopping craze, said that when he asked other people to join in the cause and help, they immediately jumped right on the idea.
"It was an amazing thing to see that actually all over the country people started bringing their own ideas to Giving Tuesday and started to grow it," Timms told CBS News.
Along with the United Nations Foundation, ABC News said #GivingTuesday intend to use the power of social media and people across the globe to donate money or time from the group who needs help.
