Mark your calendars for 27th and 31st January for two important geo-political meetings of this month. On 27th, the UK Prime Minister Donald Trump is scheduled to meet the British Prime Minister Theresa May in Washington D.C. Both are first timers in their respective positions and expected to discuss an array of topics ranging from Brexit, to trade deals to new world order involving Russia. Ms. May is first most important foreign leader that Mr. Trump will meet. He, however, had a meeting with the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe but that was before his inauguration as the President.
On the last day of the month, Mr. Trump will be meeting his Mexican counterpart Enrique Pena Nieto in Washington D.C and that will be a meeting like none other. Mr. Trump has been a sharp critique of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), a cornerstone of the Mexican economy and also vowed to build a wall along the Mexican border and get the bill reimbursed by Mexico. While Mr. Trump is likely to press ahead with his promises, it wouldn’t be wise for him to alienate a very close neighbor. He said that he being the President will ultimately bear well for Mexico.
