As the United States calling on sanctions global oil sanctions on Iran to prevent Iran from ever getting the ‘Weapon of Mass Destruction’ nuclear bomb, Iran has called on its half to destroy the only weapon of mass destruction present in the Middle East.
We have long been suggesting that the Trump administration is working not just on a peace agreement between the Israelis and the Palestinians but a grand Middle East Peace Agreement, of which Israel will be a key part. However, a grand Middle East agreement can’t be truly grand if it fails to find some sort of solution to the rivalry between Saudi alliance and Iran.
As Mike Pompeo lashed out what the United States is asking for Iran here, https://www.econotimes.com/Global-geopolitical-Series-Pompeo-lays-out-concessions-and-conditions-for-new-agreement-with-Iran-1324426 Iran’s foreign minister Javad Zarif hit back at the fact that Israel is the only nuclear-armed country in the region.
Speaking on the 31st anniversary of the chemical bombardment of the northwestern Iranian city of Sardasht during the imposed war with Iraq in the 1980s, Iranian foreign minister Javad Zarif said, “Through their opposition to the establishment of a WMD-free zone in the Middle East, the two aggressive and notorious regimes of America and Israel shoulder the global responsibility for the lingering shadow of these inhumane weapons in this sensitive region and must be taken to task and condemned by the international community”.
He also lashed out at the United States’ alleged violations of CWC treaty saying that U.S. “has so far refused to abide by its commitments under the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) and blatantly violates it…….. Iran as an active member of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) wants the US to honor its obligations under the convention and fully annihilate its chemical stockpile under international supervision".
