GoPro is one of the most popular brands in the action camera industry. However, the truth is its premium products do come with higher price points compared to the competition. Luckily, if fans find the regular price of GoPro HERO8 Black at $399.99 is too much for their budget, they have options to buy a brand new camera with as much as $100 discount.
GoPro HERO8 Black: How the TradeUp Program works
Thanks to GoPro’s TradeUp program, their fans do not have to wait for holidays and for their products to go on sale to buy HERO8 Black with a hefty price cut. A total of $100 would be removed from the price tag once a customer qualifies for this trade-in offer.
Interested customers will have to choose between GoPro HERO8 Black or MAX – regularly priced at $399.99 and $499.99, respectively, on the TradeUp program page. They will then have to check out like a normal purchase from the GoPro website with the $100 discount already applied to the order summary.
The ordered HERO8 Black or MAX will not be delivered until the customer’s old camera is shipped to GoPro. The company indicates that it has to be a digital camera (not necessarily made by GoPro) that was originally valued at USD$99.99 or the equivalent value in local currency. The program is available to other regions outside the United States.
Customers will likely be given a code or a label that will allow them to ship the old camera for free. GoPro promises to cover the shipping fee. Reports also have it that GoPro is not very picky with the old cameras that customers send. They will accept very old cameras and even ones that have damages.
GoPro HERO8 Black: What’s new on GoPro’s most powerful camera yet
The trade-in program is practically a way for customers to upgrade or even try their first GoPro camera at an enticing discount. It also appears like a good deal when buying HERO8 Black, which packs significant upgrades in hardware specs and image processing and stabilization techs.
HERO8 Black features the TimeWarp 2.0 and HyperSmooth 2.0 that are GoPro’s next-level technologies to allow their cameras to produce better-quality time laps videos and image stabilization for videos and pictures taken during action-filled activities.
