A few weeks after launch, the first drone by GoPro called Karma ran into some power trouble, which led to a recall. On top of some missing features common among current quadcopters, it’s safe to say that the product was bombing in the market. In an attempt to at least recoup their losses, GoPro decided to release the Karma grip separately, which is basically a stabilizing stick for the company’s cameras. So far, it’s been receiving a lot of praise.
On its own, the Karma Grip will cost customers $299, The Verge reports. It is automatically compatible with the most recent GoPro camera products, including the GoPro Hero 5. This will make taking pictures or videos using the grip a lot easier, which makes it superior to other forms of camera sticks since it involves less shaking.
For those who have Hero 4 Black and Hero 4 Silver, however, an extra harness will be needed. This will cost them an extra $29 in order to make them compatible with the Karma Grip.
Its biggest strength lies with how reliable the stability of the framing and capture features seem to be when testers tried it out. Although other products from other companies like the DJI Osmo also offer similar features with a bunch of others, the Karma Grip is specifically made for GoPro camera. This makes it the ideal option for those who already have such products.
On that note, the grip isn’t made simply for GoPro cameras as it is also compatible with others, provided the harness actually works for those too, Engadget reports. This makes for a helpful feature that will prevent viewers from experiencing motion sickness as they watch their friends bobbing and weaving while cycling through the countryside. Cameras can even be used via wearable accessories, which makes the wand unnecessary at times.
